When you speak to any member of our CHAMPS Oncology team it will quickly become apparent they are passionate about, and dedicated to, their profession. Each team member wants to make a difference and knows our cancer registry services provide essential information to enhance our clients' cancer programs. The information we gather and provide aids in treating and finding a cure for cancer.

As a business associate of our clients' hospitals, access to protected health information is a normal part of our everyday work. At CHAMPS Oncology, we are committed to compliance with legal and industry standards, and understand the importance of protecting client cancer data. Here are several areas we focus on from a compliance standpoint:

TRAINING
We understand our team members are an important component in protecting client cancer data. As such, they are provided many opportunities for training, including the following topics:

    • Required Annual HIPAA Privacy and Security
    • Annual Security Awareness
    • Handling and Transporting Data Using the Most Secure Means
In addition, CTRs on our staff - who received their credentials through the National Cancer Registrars Association - are required to complete 20 hours of continuing education credits every two years. In order to support this requirement and keep our staff educated, we provide our staff with many opportunities for ongoing education through our annual staff retreat, educational webinars, presentations and conferences.

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
Policies and procedures are documented, shared and reviewed with staff on a regular basis to ensure team members understand the responsibilities and expectations of their positions.

AUTHORIZED ACCESS
We ensure internal controls are in place for accessing client cancer data. Appropriate access levels are reviewed and approved by leadership on a regular basis.

We take the privacy and protection of our client cancer data as seriously as they do. Having a culture of compliance is critical to achieving that goal.

Protecting client cancer data is just one of many ways we deliver an even greater value by helping to streamline everyday personnel needs. Learn more about our registry solutions.
