In July, CHAMPS Oncology achieved SOC 2 Type II compliance after a rigorous audit by a third-party CPA firm. Service Organization Controls (SOC) and SOC 2 reports are the software industry’s top benchmark for evaluating internal controls that protect the security, confidentiality, integrity, availability and privacy of client information.
MORE ABOUT SOC 2 TYPE II COMPLIANCE
A SOC 2 Type I report is an assessment of a company’s systems, how management describes them, and what controls are in place to support them as of a specified date. It’s a widely respected review of how systems and procedures are designed. A SOC 2 Type II report adds to that by evaluating over many months whether those systems and procedures operate effectively.
"SOC 2 Type II compliance is a critical piece of our mission to provide cancer programs and healthcare providers across the country with better data to save lives™," said Vice President Karen Schmidt, CTR. "We have always taken every precaution when handling our clients' PHI, but this proves we are going the extra mile to provide better, more secure data."
“When I assumed my current role in 2018, SOC 2 Type II certification was one of the first goals I set for CHAMPS Oncology,” said Director of Corporate Compliance Adam Kozenko. “Our cancer information specialists handle protected health information and adherence to patient-protection laws, like HIPAA, is of the utmost importance to our organization.”
