Meet October's Registry Rock Star: Starla
Starla Blog

CHAMPS Oncology’s Registry Rock Star for the month of October is Starla Goodman, CTR! Starla has been working in the cancer registry for 22 years and with CHAMPS Oncology for nine years. She began her path in the industry doing case follow-ups, through which she learned many things that made her interested in becoming a certified tumor registrar (CTR).

“I wanted to be a part of the solution in helping end cancer,” Starla explained. She earned her certification shortly thereafter and began working as a CTR.

It was in her early days as a CTR that she grew to realize her favorite part of the job: The challenge it brings, and the satisfaction of knowing that the hard work is going towards creating positive change in the fight against cancer. It’s a personal battle for Starla, as she has lost her father, brother and nephew each to cancer.

Starla resides in Delaware with her husband and their dog, Reese. In her free time, she likes binging her favorite TV shows, going bowling, playing card games, spending time with her book club group and visiting with her grandchildren, Makhi, Maliah and Starla.

As for items on her bucket list, Starla wants to learn how to swim and plan an inclusive trip to showcase the skill – but as of right now, she doesn’t have any place in particular in mind.

Registry Rock Star features a different CHAMPS Oncology employee every month. To learn more, follow #RegistryRockStar on social media. What’s your favorite part about working in the cancer registry?
