Cancer Registry Fact: Doctors, researchers, and public health officials are working to improve cancer prevention and treatment, and ultimately finding a cure. The starting point for this important work is the cancer registrar.
This month’s Registry Rock Star is Mary, a cancer information specialist for CHAMPS Oncology.
Mary has been working in the cancer registry profession for ten years. Aside from becoming a nurse or a dietician, she always wanted to work in the healthcare field. Going into the cancer registry field has allowed her to become a part of patient care without the hands-on experience, as she is a little squeamish when it comes to blood. Mary loves working with data and computers and making sure her input counts towards the cure for cancer.
