Meet March’s Registry Rock Star: Kara

Cancer Registry Fact: Highly trained cancer registrars transfer information from patient’s medical records to computer software using standardized codes.

This month’s Registry Rock Star is Kara, a cancer information specialist for CHAMPS Oncology.

Kara has been working in the cancer registry profession for 15 years. Her aunt, who is a certified tumor registrar, first introduced Kara to the cancer registry industry. She decided to become a CTR herself because she enjoys piecing together data to create a patient’s cancer story or abstract. No case is ever the same and there is always something new to learn.
