Meet February’s Registry Rock Star: Jessi Hekmati, BS, CTR
Cancer Registry Fact: Cancer registrars manage cancer patient databases - recording information to help detect cancer earlier, improve treatments and increase survival rates.
This month’s Registry Rock Star is Jessi Hekmati, BS, CTR, cancer information specialist for CHAMPS Oncology.
Jessi Hekmati has been working in the cancer registry profession for three years. A few years ago, she had no idea what a CTR was but quickly realized she was fortunate to have stumbled upon this career. It has become even more than she thought it would be. She continues to be challenged and grows every day. During Intermountain Healthcare’s cancer registry management transition, she was very nervous about the change but now feels excited about her future and development with CHAMPS Oncology!
Fun Facts About Jessi Hekmati
During her free time, Jessi takes care of her 15-month-old son, two dogs and a bunny. She and her husband spend a lot of their time outdoors at parks and trails, as well as traveling to Sweden and other European countries.
The number one item on her bucket list is visiting and exploring South Africa. She would love to visit the lion and cheetah animal sanctuaries, go on a safari and take a boat ride to see the great white sharks.
Her favorite rock ‘n’ roll stars are Queen and Ed Sheeran.
