CHAMPS Oncology’s Registry Rock Star for the month of July is Stephanie Conway, CTR, RHIT! Stephanie began working in the cancer registry in 2014. Before that, however, she worked as a medical transcriptionist for 26 years. When it came time to change careers, she decided she wanted to give being a certified tumor registrar (CTR) a try and chose to apply.
According to Stephanie, the part of her job she enjoys the most is the life-changing impact her work has on a person undergoing cancer treatment. Her life has been personally impacted by cancer as her father, brother and a close friend have all dealt with different forms of cancer at one point in her life. Stephanie is inspired to do her work because of the people in her life who have been afflicted by the disease.
“My favorite thing is knowing that my work makes a difference in cancer treatment,” she explained. “With that, it hopefully makes a difference in patient survival, too.”
Stephanie resides in Ohio with her husband of 28 years; their two dogs, Sophie and Maggie; and cat, August. In her free time, she likes spending time with her nine grandchildren, working in her garden and traveling. She is a lover of all Italian foods and enjoys listening to country music, with her favorite artist being country music legend Kenny Chesney.
As for items on her bucket list, Stephanie would like to take a vacation to Naples, Italy someday.

Kelly is what people would call a "boomerang employee" — someone who leaves a company and later returns to work for the company again. But, as she explains in this #OncologyOutlook blog, that isn't a bad thing and it actually helped her further appreciate everything CHAMPS Oncology has to offer: https://bit.ly/341yGbx
