Meet February's Registry Rock Star: Celeste
Celeste Blog

February may be the shortest month of the year, but our appreciation for our Registry Rock Stars is consistent year-round. This month’s Registry Rock Star is Celeste, CTR! Celeste has been working in the cancer registry since 2010. Her story is one of persuasion: She became a certified tumor registrar after attending a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) meeting.

“I attended the RHIT meeting and they had a speaker there who made the cancer registry seem very interesting,” Celeste said. “The rest is history.”

Celeste has since been with CHAMPS Oncology for a little over three years. What she enjoys most about her role is the unpredictable nature of her daily tasks.

“I’m an abstractor and that’s what I do well,” Celeste explained. “But I do like other challenges that arise in my day-to-day as well, such as bringing on new account and program coordinators.”

Celeste resides in Dayton, Ohio, with her husband, son, son’s girlfriend, one-year-old grandson, and, with four dogs roaming the house, they’re a family of canine lovers as well.

In her free time, Celeste enjoys spending time with her grandson, playing cards on Friday nights with her family, watching NASCAR on Sundays and hosting Monday night Bible studies with friends.

Registry Rock Star features a different CHAMPS Oncology employee every month. To learn more, follow #RegistryRockStar on social media. What’s your favorite part about working in the cancer registry?
