Wow! What a whirlwind the past week has been. I laughed, I cried, but most importantly I was inspired by my colleagues here at CHAMPS Oncology and the idea that better data saves lives™.
Let me give you a quick summary of my past seven days…
Monday afternoon our entire team of cancer registry experts traveled from across the country to our home base here in Cleveland, Ohio. We kicked off an educational staff retreat the next day with a packed agenda. The retreat continued bright and early Wednesday morning, and when we broke for lunch that day we were honored to welcome Brian Lane, our newly announced president and CEO, to meet our team. On Thursday, we wrapped up the retreat with a full morning of education, followed by a farewell luncheon with a special tribute to cancer patients and our work in the cancer registry. Each evening of our retreat was spent connecting with our team on a personal level – we had an early Cinco de Mayo celebration, visited a special exhibit at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and ate more food than I care to admit. As if that wasn’t enough excitement for one week, our emotions were put to the test Friday when we said goodbye to Toni Hare as she retired after nearly 30 years with CHAMPS Oncology.
I am humbled and honored to officially take the reins from Toni this morning. I feel energized after such an inspiring week with our team. And I’m especially excited about the great things in store for CHAMPS Oncology, our clients and of course the cancer patients we all do this work for. Better data saves lives™. I can’t seem to get that out of my head lately. It’s become a new motto of sorts for the CHAMPS Oncology team and a great motivator to stay committed to providing the quality data our clients have come to expect from us.
As always, stay tuned to our blog for regular updates from our team. And please watch the brief video below for a quick glimpse at our awesome time together last week.

Kelly is what people would call a "boomerang employee" — someone who leaves a company and later returns to work for the company again. But, as she explains in this #OncologyOutlook blog, that isn't a bad thing and it actually helped her further appreciate everything CHAMPS Oncology has to offer: https://bit.ly/341yGbx
