CHAMPS Oncology Applauds CoC Outstanding Achievement Award Recipient Summa Health

CHAMPS Oncology Applauds CoC Outstanding Achievement Award Recipient Summa HealthCHAMPS Oncology proudly recognizes their Commission on Cancer-accredited client, Summa Health, for being named a 2017 Commission on Cancer Outstanding Achievement Award recipient. It is the first time Summa has achieved such a high honor.

The CoC accredits approximately 1,500 programs and surveys 500 programs a year. This designation was awarded to just 16, or 3 percent of, CoC-accredited programs that were surveyed nationwide between July 1 and Dec. 31, 2017.

“All of us at CHAMPS Oncology are extremely proud of Summa, as well as our team of certified tumor registrars for the important role they played in helping Summa become an Outstanding Achievement Award recipient,” said Karen Schmidt, CTR, associate vice president of CHAMPS Oncology. “Their ongoing support, commitment and expertise are a shining example of what sets our cancer registry services apart.”

The Commission on Cancer Outstanding Achievement Award is designed to recognize cancer programs that strive for excellence in demonstrating compliance with the CoC standards and are committed to ensuring high quality cancer care. A CoC-accredited cancer program is eligible to become an Outstanding Achievement Award recipient after completing the accreditation survey and receiving a Performance Report that indicates an accreditation award of “Three-Year with Commendation.” Specifically, the program must receive commendation ratings for seven commendation level standards and no deficiencies for the remaining 27 standards.
